Sambuca with ''mosca''

#Civitavecchia is famous for the digestif #Sambuca, which is produced here by the tradition rich companies of Manzi and #Molinari. The name is probably derived from the #Arabic zammut, which connoted a drink with an anise base and arrrived on ships from the Orient.
Angelo Molinari created the original Molinari sambuca extra in his distillery in Civitavecchia in 1945 which is still today the unchallened number 1 on the anise liqueur market. The exact recipe is kept strictly secret by the Molinari family. Molinari sambuca is best enjoyed either straight or with the addition of three coffeee beans and flambèed - or as the italians say  ''con la mosca'' ( with the fly).
